Today we began our two week long journey of immersing ourselves in the
Dublin culture and began our in depth learning of the history of such
a renown city. We began our first day at Belvedere with a welcome
breakfast alongside our fellow host brothers. After that we were given a
quick tour highlighting some of the best parts of the school, for
example the brand new library. Then we had a short welcome ceremony,
where we went over our schedule and met some of the faculty. After we
met Mr. O'Donnell; he taught us to further learn where our food comes
from by allowing us to go up to the rooftop urban farm and grow some
food for ourselves. We grew peas, wheat grass, and even sunflowers. A
few of the physics Juniors worked to help him solve a problem with the
complex system that fertilized the plants from fish tanks. Next, we
went down to the Canteen where everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch of
sausages and potatoes.

After lunch, we all met back at the lecture hall, and we packed up to
head out on the tour. It was pouring rain, but we first went to look at
the Spire and GPO. From there we were shown the escape route used by
Rebels during the 1916 Easter uprising. After that we went over the
Ha'penny Bridge (where people whenever they went over it had to pay
half a penny, and this lasted 100 years). After this we went down
through the streets around Temple Bar and walked through a few pubs.

Then we visited a few a few massive churches that were build a long
time ago. We then came upon one of the original outdoor theaters where
when the first play went up they fit 700 people. Upon seeing that we
walked a bit and we ended up at Dublin Castle. We learned that when

the English were in rule it is where they stayed. We also learned a
saying about the lady with the scale and how her back was to the
people. From there we then went to the Molly Malone statue and how
some people don't think she was real. Lastly we went and walked
through a little bit of Trinity before heading back to Belvedere. It
was a wonderful even though we did get a little wet
